The Red Tent:
The Red Tent Temple Movement, introduced to America in 1998 by Alisa Starkweather “offers women a state of beingness rather than our continual doing mode. How about not doing anything for a few hours? Or seeing what happens when we don’t have a plan or a direction? Are we keeping ourselves busy so we don’t feel? Where are we hiding in our busyness that may speak to our hearts when we finally take time to slow down?
The Red Tent Temple offers an opportunity for women to take our inner momentum, that feeling that the time is now and come forward with everything we are as women and give us a place to incubate, dream, slow down, and not have an agenda or plan. And simultaneously much is waiting for us in this not knowing place but we need to make time for the empty space. It is also not only empty space but woman space where we can share stories, laughter, songs, food and honor the unique cycles that we experience as women.
Reiki Tent
Spend some time recharging your energy! The Reiki tent is hosted by the Misty Meadows Reiki Clinic, coordinated by Reiki Master Deb Di Nola. Reiki sessions by Deb will be offered by donation throughout the weekend. Volunteer Reiki practitioners of all levels are welcome to volunteer. You must be registered for the conference. Please contact Deb at debra.dinola@gmail.com
The Misty Meadows Reiki Clinic donated $400 to this year’s Scholarship Fund.
Donations from this weekend’s Reiki Tent will help support United Plant Savers, Wilkinson Food Pantry, Women-ade, and Missing and Murdered Indigenous women.
Community Fire & Drumming:
The flame will burn throughout most of the weekend, welcoming you to its warmth and inspiration.
Gather with us for fire, drums, songs, and storytelling. We have a few incredible drummers joining us for the weekend, but drummers from the community are welcome and encouraged. Do you have a drum? Then we’d love for you to drum with us.
On Saturday night, gather for a full Fire Circle Ceremony led by Lauri Sowers-Rozek.
Mask Making: Saturday, 11-12:30pm
Join us making a plaster mask of your face (or hands/feet) if you prefer. You will make the mask with a partner and it will dry in 2-3 days. We will discuss the ways to decorate your mask reflecting your personal connection to Spirit, nature or whimsy. Masks have been used throughout history, including spiritual ceremonies and to reveal the oneness of humanity with the natural world. Do join us!
Please bring a towel, a salve you can put on your face, something to pull your hair back, a box or other object to carry your wet mask and if you can a partner to apply your plaster pieces. This activity should take about 30 minutes.
There will be a small materials fee.
Barter Fair: Saturday 3:30 - 5 pm
The Great Women’s Herbal Conference Barter Faire of Old! ~
Saturday afternoon during Free Thyme, there’s the WHC barter faire. Bring old and new books, your herbal products to trade and sell, jewelry and favorite old clothes, herbal craft items, etc. This is in addition to the Vendors Emporium and is for women who don’t want a vendor space, but have items they wish to barter, sell or trade. Please note that alcoholic beverages including cordials may not be sold, and honey may not be sold or bartered.
Bring a blanket, and set up shop for a little bit. Another great way to meet your herbal community!
